JOHN BREEN (Gran Bretagna, 1956) dopo aver completato gli studi all'Università di Cambridge ha insegnato alla School of Oriental and African Studies di Londra. Attualmente è docente presso l'International Research Centre for Japanese Studies di Kyoto, dove dirige la Japan Review. Ha curato 'Yasukani, the War Dead and the Struggle for Japan's Past' (2008) e, in collaborazione con altri studiosi, 'Japan and Christianity: Impacts and Responses' (1996), 'Shinto in History: Ways of the kami' (2000) e il libro di Inoue Nobutaka 'Shinto: A Short History' (2002).
