Mario Ubaldini
Mario Alberto Meschini Ubaldini was born in 1908 in Pesaro, where he completed his schooling.
He lived in Nice for four years, where he enrolled at the University while working as a journalist. He moved to Rome in 1934, then, in 1937 he graduated in French Literature from the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”.
In 1938-39 he was director of the Italian Book Exhibition abroad.
From 1937 to 1943 he published the magazine La ruota [The wheel]..
After the fall of Fascism on 25 July 1943 he went into hiding, and when Rome was liberated in 1944 he started the editorial enterprise which continued, in different forms until his death, under the name Astrolabio.
